FAA AD 2017-16-11 Lycoming

                This  AD   2017-16-11   requires an inspection of connecting rods and replacement of affected connecting rod small end bushings.  AD was prompted by several reports of connecting rod failures resulting in uncontained engine failure and in-flight shutdowns (IFSDs).   AD applies to:            (1) All Lycoming Engines reciprocating engines listed in Table 1 of Lycoming Engines MSB No. 632B, dated August 4, 2017, and (2) all Lycoming Engines reciprocating engines that were overhauled or repaired using any replacement part listed in Table 2 of Lycoming MSB No. 632B, which was shipped from Lycoming Engines during the dates listed in Table 2 of Lycoming  MSB No. 632B.                Reason of this AD is reports of uncontained engine failures and IFSDs due to failed connecting rods on various models o...

Frayed Flap Extend Cables - Cessna

REFERENCE : SAIB: CE-13-27  Date: April 5, 2013            The FAA recently received a report of a failed flap extend cable . The failure occurred on approach  when the flaps were deployed to 45 degrees. The sudden retraction of the right flap caused the  airplane to roll about 80 degrees to the right. The pilot was unable to retract the left flap, but was able  to maintain control with the assistance of a passenger, divert to another airport, and land safely by  utilizing almost full left aileron control. The report stated the cable was original (over 4,800 flight  hours), and the most recent 100-hour inspection had been completed approximately 10 flight hours  prior to cable failure.              A search of the FAA’s service difficulty report (SDR) system revealed numerous events of a similar  nature over a 20 year period. FAA AD 2012-24-09 HET Turbochargers FAA AD

          The FAA has issued  AD2012-24-09 on HET model TAO411 turbo chargers overhauled or repaired since August 29, 2012, using a turbine wheel, P/N 410188- 0019, serial number H120716 through H121988.       Affected turbochargers are to be replaced before further flight.           The AD does provide for special flight permits provided that the flight is limited to three hours, the turbocharger boost is set to “Off” in the cockpit if applicable and the wastegate for the turbocharger is safety wired in the open position.                 This AD affects the Cessna Model T182T. Cessna has determined that no aircraft have been factory delivered and that no spares engines or spares turbochargers have been sold by Cessna Service Parts and Programs that are affected.
